Cub Scout Pack 202 is part of the Alachua District of the North Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America. We are chartered by the Grace Presbyterian Church and our scouts attend C.W. Norton and Stephen Foster Elementary Schools.
Cub Scouting is a family- and community-centered program for boys in the first through fifth grade (6 to 10 years old). It provides an opportunity for boys to participate with their friends in a program in which the goal is not to win, but learning how to “Do your best” and how to be helpful to others. Within Cub Scouting, there are three different programs for different ages. The Tiger Cub program is geared to boys in first grade and requires an adult partner for each scout. The second and third grade boys are Wolf and Bear Cubs, respectively, and, although parent involvement is remains essential and critical for advancement, the den leaders take on a more involved role in the advancement process. Fourth- and fifth-grade boys are called Webelos I and II respectively, and participate in more advanced activities that are specifically designed to prepare them to become Boy Scouts.
Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub Scouting is the largest of the BSA’s three membership divisions (the others are Boy Scouting and Venturing).
The 10 purposes of Cub Scouting are:
- Character Development
